Pennsylvania STEAM Academy

2022

The Pennsylvania STEAM Academy Charter School (“PA STEAM”) is a new, high-impact education opportunity that offers students a rigorous and relevant learning experience by emphasizing and exploring the interconnections between and among Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math. Serving students in Harrisburg and surrounding communities beginning in the fall of 2021, PA STEAM provides project-based problem solving, discovery, and exploratory learning; delivers dynamic instruction through an experiential and collaborative approach; offers a rigorous and technology-enhanced curriculum tightly aligned to PA Standards; inspires creative, critical, and analytical thinking; and leverages community-based partnerships that give students rich and rewarding experiences in and through the creative and performing arts.

PACSP grant funding will provide PA STEAM with an unparalleled opportunity to invest in and grow its capacity for serving more deserving students with a dynamic and fully integrated elementary and

middle school experience. This Project will:

• Add 4 classrooms of 20 students in each of the next 3 years, including 1 new grade level and 2 classrooms in each of the existing grade levels, per year;

• Provide both teachers and students with the resources needed to make sustained and significant gains in core content areas (Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies);

• Create and promote clear and inviting pathways to post-secondary education and careers in STEM-related fields, particularly for those from economically disadvantaged and at-risk backgrounds;

• Establish PA STEAM as a charter school “Center of Excellence” in Pennsylvania’s capital city.
